SPAIN, Arthur C., age 84 of Franklin born January 20, 1927; passed away May 28, 2011 appropriately on Memorial Day weekend for this Navy veteran. Art was a special man with a great sense of humor who loved to talk to people. He was a successful businessman in finance "Art with a Heart . . . Get Your Cash in a Flash" and in real estate for over 50 years having served as Vice-President of Associates Capital Corporation. A loving husband, father, and mentor to his children and grandchildren, Art taught us integrity by example. He loved to travel all over the country to watch his grandchildren play soccer. Granddaddy was their biggest fan! He had lots of friends and the family would appreciate them all coming together to celebrate his life. Preceded in death by parents, George and Clevia Spain; sisters, Norma Graves, Virginia Henderson, Edith Cherry, Willie Spain, Anna Belle Cantrell, and Agnes Masters; brother, George Spain. Survived by wife of 58 years, Dottie Spain; brother, Buford Spain; children, Jennifer Spain, Dennis Spain Christi, and Julie Kirby Mitch; grandchildren, Dustin Spain Chrisie, Riley Damiani Frankie, Hannah Spain, Jack Spain, Trey Kirby, and Kendall Kirby; great-grandchildren, Kate Spain, Abby Spain, and Eli Damiani. Honorary pallbearers: Charles Evans, Jerry Bowker, Dean Kirby, Jack Walton, Harl Rose, Tom Elcan, Jack Langford. Active pallbearers: nephews. Funeral service will be 2pm Wednesday at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home with burial to follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
