Almerine Tilda Thomas, age 90, of Goodlettsville, TN passed away Tuesday evening, October 7, 2014 at Caring Hearts Rehabilitation in Portland, TN.
Almerine was born May 5, 1924 in Lafayette, TN. She was number 13 of 15 children to Bill and Mandy Bennett Shrum. Almerine married Bethel Thomas on December 24, 1942.
She was saved at a home prayer meeting at an early age. Almerine was a member of McFerrin Missionary Baptist Church and loved being a part of the L.I.F.T. group there. She loved to quilt, sew and garden. She loved her family and being grand mama and G mama to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Mandy Shrum; husband, Bethel Thomas; infant son, Harold Dean Thomas; five brothers, Grover, Mitchell, Norman, Lloyd and Floyd Shrum; eight sisters, Blossom Harp, Lilly Bradley, Nellie West, Mary Oliver, Altha Jenkins, Lena Jones, Ethel Shrum and Lorene Day.
She is survived by two daughters, Brenda (Morris) Watson of Hendersonville, Charlene (Dennis) Kittel of Murfreesboro; sister, Dora (Denver) Abnathy of Indiana; grandchildren, Troy (Anna) Watson, Chad (Rebecca) Watson, Rachel (Josh) Scull, Lindsey (Wes) Koetje, Cheryl Kittel; great-grandchildren, Drake, Malachi and coming in 2015, Abby.
A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 10, 2014 at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home in Goodlettsville with Bro. Morris Watson and Bro. Kent Collier officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Troy Watson, Chad Watson, Josh Scull, Wes Koetje, Dennis Kittel and Morris Watson.
The family will receive friends Thursday, October 9th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
