Allison Leigh West of Nashville died Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center after a brief illness. She was 36.
Allison was born at Baptist Hospital in Nashville on December 26, 1983. As a young child, she lived in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Richmond and Charlottesville, Virginia. She then moved to Goodlettsville, Tennessee, and attended Beech Elementary, T. W. Hunter Middle School and Beech High School. She was a natural athlete and played softball, volleyball, basketball, and tennis. She was a member of the youth group at Goodlettsville Cumberland Presbyterian Church. After graduation she attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where she was a member of Kappa Delta, the Mock Trial Team and the Ultimate Frisbee Team. She began her career working for AmeriCorps in Washington D.C. She continued her career in not-for-profit service organizations as an analyst before returning to Nashville a few years ago.
Allison was known for her infectious, friendly smile and her fun-loving spirit. She loved music, the outdoors and was an avid environmentalist and advocate for those needing help, including rescue dogs. She loved her rescue dog Stuart. Allison was a proud organ donor.
She was the daughter of Rachel Moore West of Nashville and Phillip E. West of Oxford, Mississippi. In addition to her parents, she is survived by two sisters, Lauren West Smith (Dale) of Franklin and Mary Katherine West of Oxford; a niece, Henley Belle Johnson of Franklin; her grandmother Edwina West of Manchester, Tennessee, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Gordon and Dorothy Gold Moore and Robert E. West, all of Manchester.
The family is establishing a scholarship fund in Allison's name at the Nashville School of Law, 4013 Armory Oaks Drive, Nashville.
