Alice Cheairs

CHEAIRS, Alice Adams Cates, age 73. Passed away suddenly February 4, 2014 at Centennial Medical Center, Nashville, Tn. Born October 25, 1940, she was preceded in death by her parents, James H. and Alice S. Cates. She is survived by her devoted husband, Jeff Cheairs; daughter, Allison Corlew VonColln (Erik); grandchildren, Addison and Emerson VonColln; sister, Nancy Cates (Ed Broadwell); brother, John Cates (Lynn); nieces, Lynlee Kennedy (Lee), and Holland Cates; nephews, Robin Appleton, and John "Jay" Cates, Jr.; great-nephews, Locke and Cates Kennedy.

Alice, known as "Dede" to family, and "Cede" by granddaughters, loved her church, her family and friends. She will especially be missed by her "ya-yas" of the poker group who will miss her humor and laughter. We all will miss her loving nature and generous spirit.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 11 a.m.Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Bellevue Presbyterian Church, 100 Cross Timbers Drive, with visitation one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be directed to Bellevue Presbyterian Room in the Inn, one of Alice's favorite local outreach missions.
