Alfred Douglas “A.D. – Paw Paw” Gosnell, 92, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022. Born June 27, 1929 in Simpson County, KY.  He was the son of the late William Hankins and Edna (McClendon) Gosnell. Alfred was also preceded in death by his wife, Audrey L. Gosnell in 2010 and by his siblings, Jimmy, Charles, Wayne, Donald, Billy, Sue and Betty; as well as by his beloved dog of 18 years, Freckles. Alfred was raised and educated in Kentucky where he graduated from the Franklin High School with the class of 1948. He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict era. Alfred only had one job during his working career and had worked as an electrician for Aladdin Industries for 40 years. He loved his church; the Bethany Church of Christ which his great-grandfather had help to build. He was a past Captain of the Robertson County Rescue Squad. His sense of service to others also extended to many. He “never met a stranger” and was always doing something for others. One of his favorite things to do for himself and his family was to visit Gatlinburg, TN. He is survived by his three children, Linda Burns, Cathy Dickie (Larry), and James (Brenda) Gosnell; eight grandchildren, Michelle Hughes (John), James Grundy, Kimberly Bone (Stephen), Billy (Mary) Gosnell, Carrie Callis (Chris), Jennifer Gosnell, James (Melody) Gosnell, Jr., and Misty Groves (Jonah); 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; his brother, Pete Gosnell; and his sister, Doris Keen. Visitation for Alfred will be held at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, White House, TN on Wednesday, February 2nd from 4 – 7 PM and on Thursday, February 3rd. from 12 – 1 PM. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home Thursday at 1 PM followed by interment at Providence Cemetery, Franklin, KY. Acting as pallbearers will be, Stephen Bone, John Hughes, James Grundy, Chris Callis, James Gosnell, Billy Gosnell, Alex Keeler and Chris Hicks. Alfred great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers.
